Transcending Limitations is a Life Coaching service provided by Michelle B. Friedman, M.A., PCC. She received her coaching certification from the Mentor Coach LLC and her Professional certified coach designation from the international coach Federation. She is also a graduate of the Stress Resiliency™/Wellness Coach Training (Helix Institute) and the Authentic Happiness Coach Training program with Marty Seligman. Michelle holds a Masters degree in Psychological Counseling from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, Illinois. She holds a B.A. degree in Human Services from Northeastern Illinois University.

Michelle made her own successful life transition from being a psychotherapist in private practice for 17 years to becoming a successful Life Coach specializing in coaching adults with ADD/ADHD. She also specializes in coaching adults in making life transitions, maintaining wellness, and stress management. When asked about the difference between psychotherapy and coaching, Michelle explains, “Psychotherapy is about healing; whereas coaching is about creating and achieving new possibilities for people’s lives. Coaching is about helping people to develop and implement strategies to overcome obstacles and transform their lives into their best, most successful lives.”

Michelle is a member of the following professional organizations:
  • International Coach Federation, the primary credentialing body for coaches
  • ADHD Coaches Organization
  • National Center for Gender Issues and ADHD
In addition, Michelle serves as Executive Vice President and volunteer fundraiser for a local high school, and she has served as a volunteer coach for the “A Hand Up Coaching” organization. Michelle also served on the board and was a volunteer fundraiser for a local organization serving victims of domestic violence, and she was a board member and fundraiser for an international organization serving at-risk children.

Michelle’s previous professional experience as a psychotherapist included:
  • Providing case management at an independent living center for the disabled in Chicago, Illinois
  • Counseling people who are blind or facing blindness
  • Treating people who suffered from anxiety or panic disorders
Michelle has been a guest on the Oprah show where she participated in a discussion about overcoming obstacles. A personal life story about her was also shared in “Real Vision”, a story published in Chicken Soup for the Mother’s Soul and in Chicago Parents Magazine. Michelle is married and has three children.

Michelle believes that at the end of our lives we should all be able to say, “I lived my best, most accomplished, fulfilled, and joyous life!”

Be of good cheer. Do not think of today’s failures, but of the success that may come tomorrow. You have set yourselves a difficult task, but you will succeed if you persevere; and you will find a joy in overcoming obstacles.
